I am doing a science fair project, and i need an independent variable, dependent variable, and control????????

my question is ';which type of ice will melt first?'; i am using black food coloring, red food coloring, and salt. PLEASE HELP! what is my dependent variable, independent variable and control.I am doing a science fair project, and i need an independent variable, dependent variable, and control????????
Independent variable: One that the researcher purposefully changes. In this case, the different types of ice are independent variables.

Dependent variable: When the ice melts is your dependent variable. It is ';dependent'; on something that you are manipulating.

Basically, the thing that you are changing is independent, and the thing that you are measuring is dependent.

Control: A piece of ice with nothing added would be the best ';control'; here. In this case, you'd more be asking the question ';How do additives effect the rate of ice melting?'; Additionally, anything that you maintain the same throughout the experiment is another type of control--the size of each piece of ice, the starting temperature of each piece of ice, the temperature you expose the ice to in order to make it melt, the shape of each piece of ice. As a note, it would be a good idea to measure the temperature of the ice when it starts melting--it will be different for the control ice block from the ones with additives, especially the salt block.
